“Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work”
2 Corinthians 9:7-8 NIV
Many of us see the responsibility of giving as a burden despite the fact that Paul reminded us that God loves a cheerful giver. Let us take a look at how giving deeply influences our lives:
1. Giving is a decision. As we decide to give, we affirm how much we value our relationship to God as His children.
2. Giving releases us from the burden of our own needs. As we learn to trust God through giving, we can live confidently on what is left because we know that God is in control of everything.
3. Giving is our form of worship. God always sees the sacrifice in giving. That’s when the worship in giving really happens.
Giving to God our first and our best, not our leftovers, signifies that we trust Him and value His goodness above all else. Today, God wants you to go beyond what is expected and surpass what is required of you.
May God bless you abundantly,
