Romans 13:8
Let no debt remain outstanding, except the continuing debt to love one another, for he who loves his fellowman has fulfilled the law.
Paul did not talk about paying bills, but rather, about seeking our neighbor’s highest good, byh fulfilling our obligation to live in love. It has been said, “You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy. But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you…” (Matthew 5:43-44) Also, Jesus said the love is the distinguishing mark of His followers. “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” (John 13:34,35)
There is one debt that we will always owe and never be able to pay off fully–the debt to love others.
Happy love day,
