As people work eight hours a day, several days a week, and so on, they await a certain time of the month. They expect to receive their wages in exchange for their labor, as their right and not as benefit.
Romans 3:23 states that once sin is committed, death is to be received as its wage. If this divine justice will strictly be imposed, surely everyone will perish. But praise the Lord for He lavished grace on us as a gift and not as a calculated day’s wage. As what Psalm 103:10 said, “He has not dealt with us according to our sins, nor punished us according to our iniquities.” The wonderful thing about God, as far as grace is concerned, is the word “deserve” does not apply. God dispenses gifts, not wages.
Lord, sometimes, I forget that my efforts cannot earn your love or your grace, or your forgiveness. Instead, You have poured out your grace on me as a favorable gift of love and not as a daily wage.
Thank you, Lord.
