It’s great to be back in the Philippines! I was away for 8 days ministering in Japan, and while I was there, I took the opportunity to fill my big tummy with lots of sushi. Wow! Great country, good food, and very nice people!
As I was preparing my “paraphernalia” for my first day session, I found out that the one responsible to bring the head worn microphone to the venue forgot all about it. To go back and pick it up from its source means six-hour travel back and forth, so it was just an illogical option. For some it may be a non-issue, but for me who desires to communicate God’s message effectively, it was a dilemma! Why? It’s so awkward to hold a handheld microphone with my left hand and a clicker with my right. It feels like wearing a straight jacket.
Did you know that the mother of all invention is necessity? So out of necessity came out creativity. So I held the microphone and the clicker together, put a tape around them, and this solved my problem. Hence, God’s message delivered straight, but not in a jacket.
As I was reflecting on what had happened after my first session, it dawned on me that God also made a “modification” just to be able to save us. In the beginning, He gave Moses the law, which everybody should follow. But sad to say, nobody can.
Ecclesiastes 7:20 (NKJV)
For there is not a just man on earth who does good
And does not sin.
Romans 3:23 (NKJV)
for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,
Because of these Bible verses that prove that we can never perfectly follow the law of God, the compassionate God in His infinite mind has already made a “modification” for our sake. Let me put the story in this manner.
– A Perfect God established a perfect law.
– A perfect law in which this tainted generation will not be able to follow to its perfection, even if we give our best shot.
– This imperfect generation is doomed to fail and bound to hell for eternity.
– The Perfect God has a perfect idea to solve the issue.
– Since the Perfect God cannot break His own perfect Law, He needs to satisfy the perfect Law with a Perfect Sacrifice.
– This was His perfect “Modification”.
Hebrews 10:1 (NKJV)
For the law, having a shadow of the good things to come, and not the very image of the things, can never with these same sacrifices, which they offer continually year by year, make those who approach perfect.
Hebrews 10:12-14 (NKJV)
12 But this Man, after He had offered one sacrifice for sins forever, sat down at the right hand of God, 13 from that time waiting till His enemies are made His footstool. 14 For by one offering He has perfected forever those who are being sanctified.
Isn’t it great to know that we are a perfect product of this great “modification?”
We are perfected, not by works, but because of The Perfect Sacrifice.
