Good morning. My name is JB from the Worship Ministry. This is my first time to testify the goodness of the Lord in my life. Truly God is good. I will share our story in having our first child. Last September 2, my wife gave birth to our baby Mira. My wife surpassed a lot of sufferings and sacrifices due to difficult pregnancy before she gave birth to our daughter.
I can still recall that it was a Sunday that I was needed to be present for the praise and worship. I woke up so early for the church call time. However, my wife started to have her labor. Good thing that the church service is in the morning and the hospital is close for me to monitor my wife’s labor condition. When I was playing my instrument during the service, I asked the Lord through a silent prayer for His hands to reach out to my beloved wife and daughter. My wife had a normal delivery.
After 3 weeks from her birth, our daughter lost one kilo of weight and had to be admitted in the hospital immediately due to Sepsis.(Per google, Sepsis is a life-threatening illness caused by your body’s response to an infection. Your immune system protects you from many illnesses and infections, but it’s also possible for it to go into overdrive in response to an infection.) She had been confined thrice in the hospital and this bothered as new parents. During her first confinement, our new born child had to be injected nine times and this broke our hearts.
Her first confinement lasted for four days and we were thankful to the Lord.
During the second confinement, she lost one and half kilos and got feverished. The doctor advised for our baby to take the prescribed antibiotics for seven days. However, aside from this oral medication, she also had undergone a series of tests like ultrasound and lumbar tests to name a few. Praise God she had a negative result for the lumbar test.
Her last confinement happened after four days when she had fever again. We thought going to a Pediatrician would be enough at that time but it wasn’t. She was rushed again to the hospital but now in the emergency room.
God led us further than we could imagine. Surprisingly, her sickness got worse from Sepsis to Bacterial meningitis. (Per google, Bacterial meningitis occurs when these bacteria get in your bloodstream and travel to your brain and spinal cord to start an infection. Most bacteria that cause this form of infection are spread through close personal contact, such as: coughing and sneezing.)
As first-time parents, we really asked on what type of disease our child was battling. Only to find out that it’s a very serious disease for a newborn. This was more of a serious and tough situation for us being apart from our baby during the first night in the ICU. That first night, we went home and my wife cried a lot considering that she had not been fully recovered. She uttered to me that we could still hold our daughter and bring her home. I was in state of shock and couldn’t imagine that it was happening at that time.
That very night, we fervently prayed to God and asked Him to heal our daughter because we have wanted to become good parents. God was with us at that time as we were able to speak in tongues and in spirit. The next day, something happened that amazed us. The doctor told us that our child’s medication would just last for only 21 days until full recovery. We were happy because we were able to bring our baby home and celebrated our first Christmas and New Year as a family!
“Trust in the Lord with all you heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.” This verse really highlighted the phase in our lives that we’ve been through. We must remember that in whatever situation we are in, we should put our 100% fully trust in the Lord, because in this way, God could freely move mightily in our lives-for He is a miracle-working God. By the way, our daughter was named Mira short for “miracle”, and Luisa which means
a ” warrior” which indeed proved that her life is a miracle and the illness she battled is truly remarkable.
Lastly, in every situation that we have in life, either happy or sad, we should acknowledge the presence of the Lord in our lives. We should lean with all His ways for God is good and faithful. Thank you for the time and opportunity to share our story to be an inspiration to many. Thank you to all our leaders who prayed for us and for our child. All the praises and thanksgiving to the Lord!
