History has recorded on March 03, 1945 that a major battle during World War II called “The Battle of Manila Bay”, fought by the American and Filipino forces against the Japanese Empire, ended. According to the United States, 100,000 civilians were killed by the intense shelling done by US Forces. However, survivors said that close to 500,000 civilians were killed, and most deaths were blamed to the Japanese. These casualties in effect sacrificed their lives for the freedom of the Filipinos.
On a different note, the Bible tells about different kind of sacrifice in Hebrews 13:15-16. This verse highlights the sacrifice of praise the fruit of out lips that confesses His Name. This is the kind of sacrifice that pleases God. Furthermore, we are told not to forget to do good and to share this with others. Let us be amazed that this sacrifice does note result to death but rather to life. That as we confess the name of our Lord Jesus Christ and share His love, we impart the free gift of salvation or eternal life to the lost souls in this world.
So lets us not grow weary in pleasing God and making that sacrifice which will result to life.
God bless you and your family
Loving you in Lord,
