“And behold, a Canaanite woman from that region came out and cried, “Have mercy on me, O Lord, Son of David; my daughter is severely possessed by a demon.” But He did not answer her a word.” Matthew 15:22-23
Barriers are part of man’s everyday life. It is either natural or artificial. Two things may happen when obstacles come in our way: Others respond to it as a dead end of everything, or as a failure and look for a chair to sit down.
Jesus’ silence to a Gentile mother does not mean that He was indifferent or unable. He is compassionate and His timing is always the best. The attitude ofJesus was intended to test her faith. He laid down the barriers towards the woman to test if she would either learn to persevere out of steadfastness and produce godly character then her great faith will result to the healing of her child, or just be frustrated and quit!
The world never hears from those who look for a place to sit down and quit. But to those who have divine perspective and believe in God, barriers will be a blessing and a stepping stone to success. If we desire for a successful life let us not quit when obstacles block our way, instead, let us lengthen our stride.
Let us remember, the people who break down their barriers, are those who go beyond their limits. So, let us go beyond and remember that your labor in the Lord is not in vain (1 Corinthians 15:58).
God bless us,
