Good morning to each one of you! By the way, my name is Beya Manabat from KID Movement Ministry. I stand here to prove how true God’s promises, either in my career or in my whole life as a whole.
I want to begin the story back when I was in the last year of high school. As expected, I was one of those hopeful and ambitious students who dreamt bigger. I took the Hotel and Restaurant Management (HRM) course because I believe that there are a lot of opportunities in that field.
I hadn’t known Christ yet when I was still in college. So, there came a time when KID Movement conducted a seminar there and our school was invited to attend. I promptly protested by leaving the sanctuary with a friend.
Fast forward, I was in third year college at that time when I started to dream about going abroad to have my work immersion in a hotel. Unfortunately, we didn’t have enough money at that time as well as my parents did not allow me to go overseas. I was deeply hurt by thinking that my dreams will not come true. I had to admit, it was the most devastating moment of my life.
Meanwhile, I had a friend in school, who never ceased to read Bible verses to me. She is very persistent in inviting me to go to church. That friend’s prayer was answered because, after a month of attending in COG- Paliparan, I chose to surrender my life to the Lord. I lifted these hands to Him, not just to imitate my fellow churchmates but simply because it was His divine power which has moved me.
Back then, I was invited again in the KID Movement fellowship and heard different testimonies which drove me to go further to pursue His calling. As I have gone deeper into God’s presence, I joined in a ministry and prayed to God to teach the youth.
As a graduating student, I asked the Lord to reveal His planned job for me. I attended one ExCEL Service, and affirmed to Him, “I desire for a job that will glorify You.” Also, I persistently have the goal to work in a hotel to pursue my passion. But God had revealed to me that I would be a teacher. Yet, teaching is not my major. God knows that. He confirmed the message to me by revealing my gift in Ephesians 4:11. Nevertheless, I told God that I do not have the confidence to teach, that led me to His Word, Isaiah 48:17, “This is what the LORD says- your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel: “I am the LORD your God, who teaches you what, is best for you, who direct you in the way you should go.”
I was astonished by His promise so I obeyed His will for me. I prayed for my dream school. Afterwards, I went to that ‘dream school’ to pass my resume. Surprisingly, the office was closed and the guard didn’t easily believe that I was fit for the job. I looked like a normal student as he assumed. Unexpectedly, my shoes got broken. In that case, I finally settled myself to go home. When I crossed the street, I saw another school. I did not know what came into my mind to pass my extra resume to this school.
Two weeks had passed but there’s still no update from those schools. Honestly, I eventually accepted that maybe the ideal school I was praying for was not meant for me.
After another week, I got a call from the school I wasn’t expecting to respond. As a hiring process, they wanted me to demonstrate teaching. Obviously, I didn’t have any experience in teaching, but His Word was a great reminder to me as I had become excited me experience His promise. I got some advice from various people on how to teach efficiently, effectively and excellently. Hence, the panelists did challenge me to speak eloquent English in my demo teaching. I paused when I heard that. I am not that fluent in speaking English as I thought.
Certainly, God’s grace was upon me. I was able to teach straight English successfully. In fact, there were two other applicants who applied. Two of them were professionals, they attended different seminars in teaching and most of all, they have teacher’s license. Nonetheless, I was there, holding my one and only paper- a college diploma. God did not fail me during this time because I was the one who passed and hired to teach in their school. Yes, I passed the job for I know that God was with me!
However, it was just the beginning of my teaching journey. I was instantly tested, our school will be televised and I had to prepare for that. I was at the verge of giving up. I already talked to the principal about how burdened I was. God is good! Surprisingly, He sent someone to help me survive the show. It was thriving! As I prepared myself to resign, I realized something. My prayers were answered yet I was still ungrateful at that time. Little did I know, God brought me to the campus because it is where I was born again. I thanked God for everything!
One of my leaders in the ministry stated, “Kapag nilagay ka ng Diyos sa lugar na hindi mo gusto, gusto niya yun dahil gagamitin niya yung buhay mo para maging pagpapala.”
Today, God is continually working in our ministry. Why? Almost 500 students in our campus, have already accepted Jesus Christ as their Savior. They watched Underpass and attended different seminars and several worship services. Prayerfully, my co-teachers could also attend here. Truly, God is evidently moving!
That’s how God has changed my life. Now, I do not have to worry about tomorrow for I know who holds the future. Here’s my message to my fellow believers. If God wants us to do something, I highly recommend you to do it right away. I firmly hold to this, “In obedience, there is a blessing.” Thank you. Glory to God!
