“A child will be born for us. A son will be given to us. The government will rest on his shoulders. He will be named: Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, and Prince of Peace.
… The Lord of Armies is determined to do this!” — Isaiah 9:6-7
Why did Jesus come?
This world—so stained by sin—has a habit of throwing bad things at us. Jesus came and died because of sinful choices.
But does this mean it was all a mistake? Was Jesus unfortunate? COuld things have worked out differently if only better choices had been made? Jesus’ death was part of the plan, part of the route towards our salvation.
In choocing to come to earth, Jesus chose the ending on the cross. And that is where the power comes as willin, living, perfect sacrifice, Jesus’ death was worth more than all the year-old lambs that would ever exist.
Christmas is coming! No one could stop it. Redemption was released and its power was enough to set every prisoner free—even you, even me.
