Little Ambo was kneeling beside his bed with his mother and father and softly saying his prayers, “Dear God, please bless Mommy and Daddy and all the family and please give me a good night’s sleep.”

Suddenly he looked up and shouted, “And don’t forget to give me a bicycle for my birthday!!”

“There is no need to shout like that,” said his mother. “God isn’t deaf.”   “Yes mommy” said little Ambo, “but Daddy is.”

True enough God is not deaf to hear our prayers. People may fail to hear us, but not God.  However, there are important things to bear in mind while asking.  Below are the guidelines to guarant God’s answers to our prayers:

  1. Pray according to God’s will (1 John 5:14)
  2. Pray with a good motive (James 4:3)
  3. Pray in the name of the Lord (John 16:23)
  4. Pray with a good order in the family (1 Peter 3:7)
  5. Pray with faith (James 1:6)

Simply put, live according to God’s word.   Jesus said in John 15:7,  “If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.”

God is listening,
