1 Corinthians Love Chapter; a Paraphrase:
Though I can speak many languages and talk intelligibly on numbers of subjects, if I don’t have enough love to keep from gossiping or putting down others, I’m not just making so much futile noise; I’m being like a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal.
And though I read the Bible regularly and even know parts of it by heart, and though I pray daily and had huge faith and other spiritual gifts, if I don’t have enough love to sacrifice some of my personal desires for others’ sake, then all of my “spirituality” amounts to nothing.
And though I work two jobs to provide for my family, and though I give to charity and volunteer for every ministry, if I don’t show love to those I live and work with, all my hard work and self-sacrifice are but worthless.
1 Corinthians 13:13 expressed it purely:
“And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.”
Praying that the love of Jesus and God’s grace be our guiding light in the ministry.
