I’m Corazon Somintac. I want to share the goodness of our Lord and how He changed my spiritual life.
Last July 7, my husband and I went to the hospital for a check-up because I’ve felt a lump around my breast from past two weeks. The breast cancer specialist diagnosed a cyst in my left breast and told me that I needed to undergo a surgery immediately. So I was scheduled in the operating room right after my check-up. They have found a 4 cm marble-like cyst in my left breast. After the operation, he described it as bloated and its edges were too rough where some sinews surrounded it. He also told me that second surgery is possible to happen if the biopsy result is malignant and may lead to breast cancer. My husband boldly asked him on what might be the worst case on this matter. The doctor replied that my left breast will be removed if there’s no other option.
I was worried about the pain that I would feel, about my family, and the hospital and chemotherapy expenses. I asked God why I needed to go through that trial even when He knew that I was weak.
Nonetheless, a billboard caught my attention when we passed by C5 road. Its content was all about the latest Don Moen’s concert entitled “God Will Make a Way” – It encouraged me that the Lord will never leave me. I felt comforted somehow. Then another two empty billboards were approaching, only the number of the agency was displayed, with the quote “God is good” and “Reach Out”. I was amazed how the Lord’s miracle is working in my life. The doubts I had before were turned into dreams for my EXCEL testimony.
I hold on to Deuteronomy 31:6 (NLT), which stated: “So be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid and do not panic before them. For the Lord your God will personally go ahead of you. He will neither fail you nor abandon you.” My husband and I prayed together solemnly. Since then, we attended the Dawnwatch services for the following days. Then God gave me another verse: Matthew 21:22 “Ask for anything in prayer, in faith you will receive.”
After the Dawnwatch service last July 13, we went straight ahead to the hospital. The result was sealed in a white envelope, which we did not open because we prayed first. We gave it to the doctor and he read it. He told us that the result is a benign cyst, which is not cancerous. Even it was contradicting with his diagnosis, he then returned the results to me and I kept it because I know that we would not see each other anymore. I am healed in Jesus’ Name!
Thus, I want to praise God even if I am not worthy, He granted me His healing that changed my spiritual life. I should not be afraid to deal with challenges because God is always with me. I encourage you to cling to the Lord through prayer over and over again. I give all the glory and praise in Jesus’ name.
