We often try to do something new to be recognized by others. Also, we naturally seek approval from other people through the things that we do.
I was that kind of person nine years ago. I sought to find pleasure in worldly things because I thought I would find my worth in doing them. I was a guitarist in an underground rock band. Troubles, fears, and vices were everywhere. I became a thief, a murderer and a suicidal child. I felt so cool back then, with all the things that I was able to do.
Maxwell said, “The pressure of the crowd sometimes starts us in the wrong direction.” This was so true in my life as my crowd did lead me into the wrong direction. But there came a time when I felt so incomplete and tired of everything. God must have known that exact feeling of emptiness I was experiencing; and that’s when He began moving my heart in a very exceptional way. He revealed to me who He is and spoke to me one very memorable moment through a preacher talking to the congregation. What He said hit me so hard that I wasn’t able to hold my supposed toughness. He said, “Are you tired of your life? The same problems on different days? If you’ve got no plan for yourself, I do have,” says the Lord. It grabbed my attention. Was He talking to me?
In Jeremiah 29:11 (MSG), God said, “I know what I’m doing. I have it all planned out—plans to take care of you, not abandon you, plans to give you the future you hope for.” Prosperous life, good future, hopeful days. It was declared by the Lord. It was direct love, intentional love. And that love changed me. He repaired my life and brought me out of the place that corrupted my life.
“Don’t become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking. Instead, fix your attention on God. You’ll be changed from the inside out. Readily recognize what he wants from you, and quickly respond to it. Unlike the culture around you, always dragging you down to its level of immaturity, God brings the best out of you, develops well-formed maturity in you. He separated us from evil, set apart, consecrated, justified.”
Romans 12:2 9 (MSG)
I just did what He said and followed everything He commanded me. After three months, everything became different, and it all started with the first step: “Call upon Him. You will be saved.” But wait, that’s not yet the end of it.
Blessings after blessings unfolded in my life. An opportunity opened up for me to study under the WEYJ Foundation and it all turned out so well. I finished college then I was given the privilege to serve the Lord through music and stage management.
Truly, it was a direct access love with God that re-directed my path. I surrendered to Him everything, then He gave me His everything.
When I met God, He changed my life. He saved me from this dying world. The “ME” became “HE“. And He loved me for who I am
I’m not just a drummer.
I am a worshipper of God.
To worship Him is more than anything in this world.
It is not my profession,
It is my LIFE.
This is my story. What’s yours? 🙂
