Nothing is as painful as being abandoned by a loved one. Many can relate to this since everyone needs someone to trust. If this happened to you, to whom will you put your trust?
This scenario is no stranger to the nation of Israel. As captives in Babylon, the Israelites eagerly waited for freedom. They were confused by hearing many false prophets who (of course) made false promises. Israel believed they were misled and were abandoned for so long, not knowing who to trust. Then came the Word of God through the prophet Jeremiah:
This is what the Lord says: “When seventy years are completed for Babylon, I will come to you and fulfill my good promise to bring you back to this place.”
Jeremiah 29:10 (NIV)
In your pain, hold on to God’s promises. Even though many people will say God has abandoned you, go back to His Word. You will find out that God never fails. He will always come to your rescue at the right time. Cheer up! Truly, God never fails.
