Life is experienced in a wide series of battles. Some can be related to financial, physical, emotional or even spiritual battles. Sometimes we win, sometimes we lose. One thing that I have learned which is very significant in a battle is having a shield (a defense or protection from enemies’ attacks). Since we are exposed to the enemies’ attacks, you cannot win a battle without any protection.
Today, we have an unseen enemy roaming around and sowing terror – the Covid-19 virus has turned to a world pandemic. We may have worn face masks and PPEs (used by health frontliners) to protect ourselves, or sprayed a lot of alcohol to sanitize our hands frequently, but would these all be enough to protect us? Know that we are still vulnerable.
Where then do we have go to? I know Someone, and this is what I believe:
“As for God, His way is perfect; The word of the Lord is proven; He is a shield to all who trust in Him.
(Psalm 18:30 NKJV)
Cheer up then, my brethren! Be like Abram when the Word of the Lord came to Him in a vision, saying, “… Do not be afraid, Abram. I am your shield, [a]your exceedingly great reward.”(Genesis 15:1 NKJV)
Let this be our prayer today:
“But You, O Lord, are a shield [a]for me,
My glory and the One who lifts up my head.”
(Psalm 3:3 NKJV)
Go and run then to Jesus now, believe in Him, and claim it yourself: “Jesus is My Shield!”
Shielded by Him,
Ptr. Francis Honorio
