Then I prayed to the Lord too, “If Your Words are true my God, please answer my prayer just like You answered Hannah’s prayer. And it’s not just a prayer of a mother like me, but of other mothers as well like me, who is praying for my daughter, including our brethren in Christ. – Sis. Melanie
Good morning, I am Melanie from Worship Department, this is my husband, he is from KID movement, and this is Anaias, our daughter. I am so happy that she is also serving the Lord in one of our satellites.
However, something happened to her. Everything happened so suddenly. It was around August 5 when my daughter Anaias had a fever. It was the first time that she experienced constant fever and it would not cool down no matter how many Paracetamol she took. But then I’ve noticed her very fast heartbeat. Then my husband asked for my daughter to be brought to a doctor the next day after she had a seizure. When we had her checked up at the hospital, they also noticed her abnormal heartbeat causing Anaias to be confined. Due to Dengue outbreak, her blood needs to be tested to see if she is positive with “Dengue Disease”. The test results showed that Anaias is Dengue positive. Her fever wouldn’t go down though she already had a serum.
I was too afraid that time! It was around four in the morning, Wednesday, when I saw her eyes, lips, and nails turning color purple. I was freaking out going back and forth to the nurse asking, “What’s happening to her?” Around six in the morning, I was praising God! Good thing that the doctor came early. The doctor told me to go outside after they examined my daughter causing me to panic. I asked the doctor; “Why do we need to talk outside?” The doctor replied that Anaias condition is getting worse that requires her to be in the ICU. I asked, “Why? ” What is her situation?” The doctor advised me that to prevent her health situation getting worse, she must be brought in ICU. When Anaias was transferred in the ICU, it was a very tough battle for both of us.
Each day, her condition changes from time to time. The doctor explained to us that there are three types of Dengue disease: mild, strong, and severe. It was a severe case that inflicted my daughter. That was the worst case of Dengue disease that may cause death. I was so afraid that day after hearing it. Each day, the doctor would advise me that she needed a blood transfusion. The doctor asked me that we needed to cooperate or partner with each other for it is very hard to look for a blood donor due to the outbreak. Praise God because He was able to provide to us a blood donor on that day which we badly needed it!
But that is not the end of it! Anaias had a complication in her lungs, causing her lungs to be filled with water, her nose bleeding, and even bleeding in her eyes. The doctor could only say to me, “We need to pray. We need a lot of prayers for there is no cure in this Dengue disease.” This is the most crucial level of my daughter Anaias that she needed to survive! If not, we will lose her. That time, I was praying to God, “If it is Your will to take our daughter as early as now, help me understand why? But God, please! Please spare her! Answer our prayers.”
At that very moment, I saw the Bible there. We have our daughter’s Bible with us on the second day that we were at the hospital. I asked God to speak to me and I desperately need His Word. It is not an accident that I had read the passage about the story of Hannah and her prayer to become a mother. Hannah was praying to have a child and her prayer was answered. Then I prayed to the Lord too, “If Your Words are true my God, please answer my prayer just like You answered Hannah’s prayer. And it’s not just a prayer of a mother like me, but other mother’s as well like me who is praying for my daughter including our brethren in Christ.
Praise God! After 9 days in ICU, Anaias survived because of the grace of God! That time, we didn’t have anyone to cling unto except for the Lord. We know that He is powerful enough to heal our daughter! Though spent roughly PHP 190,000 for her hospitalization, the Lord let her got discharged from the hospital. I did not question God for I know how powerful He is. Anaias is healed; she was healed by the Lord with His power! I appreciate the theme of our church P.U.S.H.- Pray Until Something Happens, Proclaim Until Something Happens, Praise Until Something Happens. This theme became true in our lives because this is what we did when we experienced this hardship. Because of this, we have truly experienced God’s healing and favor!
