“Then the angel said to them,” Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people. For there is born to you this day in the city of David, a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.” – Luke 2:10-11, NKJV
While the night was cold and dark, the angel of the Lord appeared before the shepherds who were out in the field and the glory of the Lord surrounded them, shininh, making them greatly afraid. The angel said that a Savior, Christ the Lord, was born that very day in the city of David (Bethlehem), and that joy which is generously offered to everyone.No wonder in the account of Matthew 2:10, the three wisemen from the East, just upon seeing the star that would lead them to the young Child – the born Savior, rejoiced with exceedingly great joy!
