I am Jessel Mahilum from the Ladies’ Ministry in Church of God-General Trias. I would like to share my testimony to all of you.
I am working in Manila while my family lives in Negros Province. It was May 6, 2010 when my son, Jan Mark, was rushed to the hospital and my mother told me that he felt feverish for two weeks and because I am far from them, I was worried. The next day he had to undergo a CAT Scan, then I informed my boss about what was happening back in the province. She did not hesitate to help and provide the payment for that test. Then the doctors found out that my son had a brain abscess. When I heard the news, I immediately approached my boss and asked if I can take a leave and I hurriedly went to our province.
When I reached the hospital, my mom and siblings were crying. They told me that the doctors already declared his prognosis and that he may die within an hour if we do not consent to the second operation. When I looked at my son he was barely moving. I held his hands and whispered to his ears, “Mama is here, anak. I will help you.” Then with that, I saw a tear fell from his eyes that put my hopes up again.
The doctor told me that the operation was going to be expensive. I left the hospital and tried to find solutions for our financial problem. I did not know where to go but my feet took me to our Barangay Hall. I did not hesitate to approach the barangay captain. I thank the Lord for he willingly gave five thousand pesos which we used to buy my son’s medicines and as downpayment for the second surgery.
While he was in the operating room I kept on praying, “Lord, alam Mo ang tunguhin at kung ano ang tunay na laman ang aking puso, pwede po bang bigyan Mo pa ng pagkakataon ang anak ko na mabuhay? Buong buhay akong maglilingkod Sa’yo, Panginoon.”
Truly the Lord is faithful for giving the success for the operation! But despite the success of the six-hour surgery, there was still some abscess left in his head. The doctor told us that they have to conduct a general operation this time to fully drain it. As I continued to kneel and pray to the Lord while holding my Bible, I believed that He was in control of everything. I really praise God for the third successful operation! I prayed that my son may no longer feel the pain when he gains back his conciousness Indeed, God has allowed my son to live!
In that situation, I learned that there is no reason to give up and we have no reason not to serve Him because He is the main reason why we live in the first place! Now, I will fulfill my promise and serve Him even more. I encourage everyone to set aside their worries for there is no such thing as chronic diseases in our Lord because our God is stronger, greater, and bigger than the trials we are in right now.
Praise the Lord and God bless us all!
