Life is like a race. The finish line ends in two eternal places – eternal agony in hell and eternal life in heaven. A race towards hell is composed of people who have lost moral fiber and resorted to wicked acts and other ungodly things as stated in Revelations 21:8. On the other hand, there is also a race towards heaven which is worthy of our commitment and dedication. It is the race of people who are fighting a good fight and finishing the race with faith (2 Timothy 4:7).
It is encouraging to think that those who have already finished this race have already received their crowns and they are now surrounding us as living witnesses. They are now cheering us and assuring us that our labor in the Lord is not in vain.
Hebrews 12:1 tells us, “Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us.”
