“Therefore if you bring your gift to the altar, and there remember that your brother has something against you, leave your gift there before the altar, and go your way. First be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift.” (Matthew 5:23-24 NKJV)
Worshiping God is our first duty as a human being because we are created to give glory to God. But Jesus taught us in that verse that if you are in the midst of worship then you come to realize that when you offended someone, you have to stop on worshiping, and ought to go to that person to restore the relationship. After you’ve made things right in the relationship, then God becomes interested in your gift.
God is calling us to restore the relationship completely, no matter who is right or who is wrong; no matter how long it takes. Then we can return gladly to worship with hearts free from guilt and bitterness. Thus, it is better to forgive so as our offering and service to God could be more meaningful.
Before you go to church to attend a worship service, we better think first. Is there someone whom you need to be reconciled with? Are you willing to initiate and do the first step for the reconciliation?
God Bless!
