In this article, we are featuring another exemplary story from our sister in Christ who was once lost, yet found herself in the Lord. Her name is Maridel Solis. As a brief background, she used to work abroad for such a long time. She had a successful life. Yet, she knew back then that something was missing in her life. She longed for an extraordinary love that she could not find anywhere.
One day, she had a severe stomach pain. She went to the doctor and she was immediately scheduled for a emergency laparotomy, (surgery on the stomach.) She underwent two operations. Maridel bore much pain at that time that she didn’t know if she could live anymore.
The difficulty of living independently came at her; no one would pay the bills and no one would take care of her. She was then attending church services near their area. However, Maridel admitted that she used to do things that were not pleasing before God’s eyes.
Out of despair, she cried out to the Lord and uttered, “I’m ashamed of You, Lord, I don’t deserve anything from You. Here I am, coming to you. I put my full trust in You. They left me. I am alone. I have one but You. I do not need any material things, just send me home and I will serve You.”
Since then, she set herself that when she has believed the Lord, she would be healed. After she put her confidence in Him, she prayed in the hospital together with her fellow believers in Christ. Thankfully, she returned to the Philippines, trying to earn what she had lost. Then, she was invited by her friend to attend our church here and later on became part of a ministry.
Many people have testified that when worry ends, faith begins. Maridel is a living testimony to this because she does not need to take medicines anymore; prayers has become her strength and constant attending of ExCEL service has made her well. His brother suggested that it would be better if she remains to fulfill the promise she has made to the Lord. And so, she definitely did. God has not failed our sister because as she has continued to serve Him, healing has come through her- because of her steadfast faith.
Absolutely, when God changes us, He changes every aspect of our lives day by day, from glory to glory. In Sis. Maridel’s situation, she has set her mind on things above, and God has performed miracles that she couldn’t explain.
Out of the abundance of her heart, this is her prayer to the Lord, “Thank You God for everything, I know I have imperfections but I believe that in my weakness, You are moving. You are our God; You will not forsake us.”
Now, she has good contract abroad. Her lovelife has grown as well; she is now engaged and her fiance knows Jesus too. She firmly believes that God is everything she needs. In her hardships, she was reminded of the verse, “But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.” (Matthew 6:33)
Sis. Maridel went through a lot of trials in life. So we are. We often get surprised by how life brings trouble to us but it is more surprising when the Lord Himself manifests His sovereignty and goodness to us countless times. We just need to firmly believe and follow Him every step of the way.
