Many people can relate to Joseph’s old life before he became a Christian; He got addicted to computer games. After his encounter with Jesus, the old Joseph, who used to have no direction to take, is now the born-again Joseph, who follows Jesus at all costs. After he accepted Jesus Christ, blessings after blessings came. He got married to his wife and has started a business. He couldn’t ask for more.
Everything was fine until last October 2018. His projects got bankrupt and their debts piled up. That was the time he cried out to the Lord and uttered this prayer, “Lord, why? What did I do? Why did you let me experience this? I am a kind person. I’m not doing anything wrong. I’m not drinking nor smoking.” And he kept asking and wondering for a while.
In his devotion, God revealed to him the lesson on how he could get out of that situation. First, he realized that in any aspect of his life, he did not seek God. God spoke to him in Matthew 6:33, “But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.”
His wife got depressed because of what was happening. Back then, Joseph made a stand at his faith as he decided to commit his life to the Lord. True enough, God fulfilled His promise that He has favored their business. They were able to pay their debts.
Hence, another problem arose. They asked the Lord for a new house but they did not have enough money to buy one. They immersed themselves in seeking God in prayer and devotion. They did attend the ExCEL services. After a week of praying, God provided Php 150,000 for their dream house. However, they were not allowed to leave the old house because of the unpaid bills. Joseph didn’t know where to get Php 2,000,000 right away. Instead of talking directly with the owner of the house, they prayed to the One who owns everything.
God is indeed a miracle-working God because the owner visited them and said that it is okay to pay their debts in a staggered basis. Words of thanksgiving and adoration were only uttered to the Lord. Joseph was filled with joy because he knew that it is all God’s work. The only thing he could think of doing was at least, invite his neighbors, have a fellowship, pray and join a ministry.
Today, Bro. Joseph only wants to serve God deeper and immerse himself more in His Word. Though he knew that he may stumble along the way, but He truly believes that God is not yet done in his life.
To all our fellow believers, as Bro. Joseph has reminded us, ” We need to seek God first so that we can see His amazing works. Let us pray for our hearts to seek Him more, and to serve Him as long as we live.”
