As a child, the first lesson we have learned in Math class was 1+1-2. “Two” might be a small number but in real life, it is more than enough and its effect is more than two.
The teaching in Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 that says, “Two are better than one” means that:
If we have someone to work with, more work will be accomplished. If we have someone to walk with along in this life, whenever we stumble and fall, be it physically or spiritually, we have someone to help us along. Such a description fits that of a friend: “One who multiplies joys and divides grief.”
Let us remenmber to thank God because, by default, we have at least MORE than two friends: Jesus, our family (spouses and children), and our co-workers in Christ.
Tap someone else’s shoulder, give a big hug to someone and start to reach out. A simple gesture can produce that powerful “two” effect.
Loving you in Christ,
